Yah that's true but actually you'd be surprised, it's real nice to have fast food options available once in a while. I was just in Thailand two times in the last 3 months and I can say how nice it was to get a value meal late at night once or twice a week. It's well within the budget, the taste is good once in awhile, and it's nice to have options. Try going a year or more without any decent selection of fast food and you'll see how lame that gets.
The same can also be true to have your favorite chocolate bar or cookies or the like. Being away from them for a long time can get to you. |

Value Meals? Cookies? If those things are that important to you, then maybe you should reconsider your life choices. You're talking about western junk. Most of us are here to get away from it, and from the people who crave it. |

Dont you love whenever you talk about food in class and you ask students what western foods do they know and they almost always answer
HAMBURGER or PIZZA
I would take a 10,000vnd bowl of Bo Kho over a value meal any day of the week. |

You have to admit for being stuck in the middle of Southeast Asia, there are quite a few western alternatives in Saigon. Some of them don't taste right or have the correct ingredients but never the less you can get it. There were times of after not having a real pizza for more than year, that you get a real craving for grease and cheese. |

There isn't a McDonalds or Burger King in VN. Oh no! How terrible. I didn't realise. Wait a minute I'm sitting here with my restaurant meal with 2 beers adding up to about 2 quid max thinking I really don't care one bit.
VN is great come to Hanoi. Don't worry about the bikes they just drive round you. I go for the 'I'm flying' impression when I cross the street and they all seem to know I'm there. The beeps are just white noise. |

I never missed McDonalds in two years of living abroad, never ate it when I was at home. Then, I moved to China and there was a McDonalds right across the street from where I lived. It only took one time, and I was hooked. There might not be a better hangover/drunk junk food than that which McDonalds provides. Since coming back to the States I have quit, cold turkey. But to be honest, I would take the great street food in Asia over McDonalds but McD's is good, maybe not for you, but its good.
I also found Pizza Hut to be good in China. THe atmosphere was definitely different, and I thought the Pizza tasted better than the Pizza Hut in the STates. |

If you're missing western fast food, go to Lotteria, its essentially the same menu as McDonalds. They have locations all over Vn. Bo means beef in Vietnamese, so make sure you order a Bo burger. |
