Hi all. I'm currently doing the ESL gig in Korea and ready to take an extended break after 2 years. I have been to Thailand before and have friends in the Chiang Mai area who invited me to stay with them a while (they run a guesthouse), help me apartment hunt and get situated. My question is a basic one, how long can you make a tourist visa last? I'm planing on living off savings for about 6 months and perhaps taking a few tutoring gigs or a part time position somewhere if it's available, but not banking on making any money. Do you have to do visa runs to Laos or elsewhere every few months? Any info on this would be great. |

6 months.
Get a double entry tourist visa.
After 2 months you extend it for 1 month at immigration (1,900 baht)
After that month you do a visa run - a one day (or as long as you want) cross a border (Mai Sai in Burma for example).
That's three months, then the whole thing is repeated as it's a double entry.
Total. 6 months.
Or get a Non-Imm O visa if you're visiting friends. |
