Hello everyone,
My buddy and I have been wanting to do this for a while and will finally be ready at the beginning of 2011. The thing is, we'd like to be placed in the same area/program. Is this possible at all or are we out of luck? Thanks! |

It's possible, but you will have very little control over the matter. Some employers will say you can request locations, but that is as far as they go with any promises. It's business, so you go where they assign you. Just because you are friends, they may not consider a good reason to put you close together. I know of some JET Programme married couples who ended up living in separate cities!
Perhaps the best you can do is live together, and look for work in the same city.
Do you really want to end up working and living together 24/7 anyway? |

I work with two guys from the same town in Wales - they knew each other before hand and were asked if they wanted to live together to cut on rent - they agreed, share a couples apartment and get on well. They both work for the same school and work relatively close by.
So yeah, it's totally possible, though some companies may be better about it than others - just ask, and if they can find a way to make it work, they probably will. |
