|
|
Hi,
I'm a history BA looking to live and travel for a year in Mexico before I go to law school. I recently got my TESOL certificate through TESOL Training International which helps with and guarantees you job placement in most countries you want to go to.
So I just wanted to know what people thought were good areas to teach english as well as take inexpensive courses through a spanish language school. I'm trying to increase my Spanish speaking ability to the level of fluency during that time.
Also, whats the situation with housing in these areas? Is it easy to find? Are there host families that will take you in? thanks! |

Practically any biggish city is a good place to learn Spanish here. The trick is to avoid other English speakers - easier said than done. If you're going to pay for a school, you may as well study there so you can start actually learning the language when you arrive rather than having to wade through the grammar here with a (for the most part) inept teacher. |

Go for the big enchilada, Mexico City!
Nothing else even compares in Mexico.
Plenty of jobs and Spanish courses.
All the Mexican culture you can handle.
Close to many other cities. Great for weekend getaways (kinda hard working 6 days a week in a language school though ).
Lot's of business classes so you don't have to work in a langauge school. |

Prof. Gringo,
Lot's of Regios would have something to say to you about that
I loved Mexico City. I also enjoyed Monterrey. The good thing about Mexico City, as someone pointed out, there are an abundance of weekend places to go to in Mexico City. As many foreigners may not know, travelling by bus in Mexico is cheap and comfortable. Better than the Greyhounds we have in Canada. |
