I think Iceland offers free tuition

Are you sure about Norway? Perhaps the Universities of Tromso, or Trondheim offer free tuition

Who knows for sure?

Saren,

You obviously didn't read my reply on another question you posted about free education in Scandinavia.....

I lived and worked in Norway, but for a student, university education is only free for citizens. If you want to apply for a student visa, you can, but you have to prove you have money in the bank to support yourself. This is currently about 12,000 a year. Without that, you cannot get in. The tuition may be free, but you pay huge living costs.

As for Iceland, pretty much the same - check out:

There are no freebies (and why should there be?)

Even if university tuition was free, how do you plan to support yourself? The cost of living in Iceland (and Scandinavia in general) is very, very high.

Your previous posts indicate that you are Canadian - how do you plan to support yourself in Iceland, even if you had free tuition?

NOt Iceland per se, but a couple of years ago we looked at going to Finland. Education was free, at the time, not sure if it is now, but we had to prove somehting like 1000 euros a month, so that's 2000 euros, plus medical insurance.

hi thank you to everybody for writing sory i was away i was doing research and i am in contact with 3 norwegian universities, and the university of iceland, it appears as if in the case of Norway, you need to deposit more than 10,000 euroes in a norwegian bank account, and then apply, but that's not the problem

as for iceland, the living costs are lower, but again that's not the issue

iceland, and norway offer tuition-free education to canadian citizen, but they prefer you to already be a student, or apply for a formal degree program, this is where my problem is because i am simply interested in taking random courses (without formal programm) for a period 1 year. They have closed the door on me because i am like a free-mover, not a degree student. I want to apply as a non-degree student, and i don't think they know what to do with me, so that is the shame, and i won't be able to study now
