Hi everyone Smile

I am a university graduate from NY, and am trying to find TEFL work in England. My boyfriend is British and lives in Manchester and thats where I am trying to find employment. Most of the jobs posted online for TEFL in England seem to want CELTA instead, is it worth it to get as well?
I just graduated from university with my bachelors degree in international relations, am fluent in Spanish (was born in Colombia), and I am just finishing my TEFL teaching course. I have already taught in Colombia as a volunteer teacher so I have some experience already. I was just wondering how Americans can get a UK visa over there, it seems almost impossible unless you went to university there or already have a job offer. Any advice is welcome!

If your TEFL qualification meets these criteria, you should be able to land work in the UK. You might find that the schools you apply to are unfamiliar with your quallification, so if it meets the criteria, you should probably put a paragraph in your covering letter/email showing how it meets them.

Manchester Academy of English is a good place to start. I worked there a few years ago. The DoS is great - very supportive.
