|
|
Ok, I recently posted in the Japan section with regards to teaching in Japan however, I share similar interest for Indonesia. Hence this one.
From what I have read around the place there seems to be a lot of dodgy recruiters out there so I am sure you can understand why I am posting this, alike with a thousand others that have come before me.
Who would you suggest as a good starting point for someone with little exprience?
I would love to get any information I can, and any information given is most appreciated.
Regards,
Shawn |

Hi Shawn,
EF, TBI, ILP are 3 organisations that recruit teachers who are just starting out.
Good luck |

Thank you for your response. Where do these three organisations post their job adds in particular, on here?
Any more information with regards to these three would be great. But, I shall definitely have a look around and see what I can find.
Thanks again,
Shawn |

Every time i send an email requesting more information with regards to a position in Indo I never get a reply.
I find this rather interesting. I'm not sure why, unless they get many applicants they feel no need to respond to my inquiry.
hmm. |

Indeed, there are more applicants than jobs.
Also, you said you have little experience. That could be why. (though it doesn't explain why you get NO responses).
Are you sending your cv and cover letter? If you're just asking questions and not giving much in return, recruiters get the impression that you're just 'fishing' around and won't waste time answering your emails.
If you are sending in a proper application with cv, maybe it just needs a bit of work? If that's the case, I think you'll find some good advice here:

This is a fairly recent development and I don't think it applies evenly across the board. There are a few dismal hellholes around the archipelago where it is still hard to attract applicants, but it is true that Indo is no longer the seller's market that it used to be. In part this is due to lifting of travel warnings, partly because of poor economic conditions in the home countries , and also because some of the better paid postings such as in Japan and the Gulf have dried up or lost their lustre. |

It used to be easy to work in Indonesia, and often teachers were hired on the spot, as long as they were presentable, and reasonably qualified.
Those days are over. Once you could walk into a school, and see the owner or the DOS immediately (They want to meet you). Now, the DOS only wants your CV, and you may wait months for an interview.
Many schools do not even bother replying to an email, which is rude but a fact of life in the new Indonesia.
Malu is correct, Indonesia is saturated with applicants, and even qualified people are waiting to find a job.
Your best change is EF, or a school in "Ugly" Indonesia- Bekasi, Tangerang or a distant suburban wasteland like Bintaro, or BSD City.
Good luck.......................... |

I've heard on the grapevine that TBI Kuningan are currently experiencing something of a "mini-exodus" of teachers so, for those in the market for a job, it may be worth applying there. I wouldn't fret too much about lack of experience and/or qualifications, they can only say "no" at the end of the day. |

Hey! Some of us actually like the suburbs. BSD is relatively quiet and clean, and you can get everything you need here. It certainly isn't a "wasteland".
One thing we really don't have here is nightlife. If you enjoy going out clubbing, or even for a quiet drink somewhere, it is rather distant.
OP, you should think about what kind of environment you want to live in. If you're a city boy, then maybe you want to look at more central neighbourhoods, but if you enjoy the quiet life, then the suburbs may suit you. There are certainly branches of EF and TBI in various suburbs as well as numerous other schools of differing size and quality.
Feel free to PM me if you want more info about BSD City or EF.
cheers;
Chris Patton
