I've been asked to legalize my already apostilled diploma, a process in which the Mexican government officially approves and accepts my US apostilled diploma. This is for a university position. I've never even used my apostilled diploma before even though I've had it all this time because I've only worked for language institutes or myself. It makes sense why the university, as SEP authorized, requires it.

Figured that I'd ask here first. Has anyone legalized an apostilled document in Mexico?

With a couple clicks on Google, I think I just answered my own question.

Mexico is one of the countries that signed the Convention (in 1995) so there is a need to have certain documents certified by apostille. Quite often you are required to provide support documents when making application for Mexican documents e.g. Visas. These could include Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Divorce Decree, etc. Unfortunately, the originals or copies are not acceptable. They must be certified in your home country and the person certifying them must be confirmed as legitimate by, (In the U.S.) the Department of the Secretary of State and (In Canada) at a Mexican Embassy.

The signature of the secretary of state on my apostille authenticates and approves the document for Mexico.
