I believe TBI Bekasi pays 9-10 million, EF Bekasi was mentioned on an earlier post as less than 7 (if I remember correctly). There is a school called FBI that recently advertised in the Jakarta Post. I don't know how much they pay. You could also send your CV to Victory Plus (http://www.sekolahvictoryplus-bks.sch.id/index.php) or Global Prestasi (http://www.globalprestasi.sch.id/kl/index.html?index=19). Although, I don't know if the latter employs expats. |

FBI should hire you on the spot, whilst TBI are always looking for someone. The salary should be around 9-11 jt a month for both schools, a lot more than some schools are attempting to offer in Jakarta. |

with your qualifications i am not sure that tbi would hire you. usually they are pretty adamant about having a CTEFL. but if they are having a really hard time attracting teachers, they might be more flexible about this. also their salary usually doesnt include housing. years ago, FBI pay package didnt include housing either, but they may have changed that.
in order for your children to go to regular national schools, they would have to be registered as indonesian citizes. if not, you would have to go the nationalplus or international school, which can be quite expensive. supposedly lots of rules are changing in regards to nationalplus and so called "international" schools. i dont know if these rules would make your children eligible for local schools or not. personally i wouldnt want my children educated in the local school system
point that no one has touched on............ salary. even if u make 10 million per month, i dont think this would be adequet for a family of five, even with a housing allowance. maybe some of the teachers that are married and have children can be more specific about how much u need for a "living wage" with 3 school age children.
hope u find a job that meets your needs and your enjoy your stay here |

Five Children means you need at least a four bedroomed house, which would cost the minimal of 12-15 jt in Bekasi, plus furniture.
You can live cheaply in Indonesia, the locals seem to do but if your kids are not Indonesian, then you have to factor in visa runs to Singapore.
My guess is 10jt a month would be enough to live simply in Bekasi, but you may have to send your kids to a cheap local school, and take anggkots instead of taxis.
Good luck. |

I can assure you that TBI Bekasi was very flexible on the CELTA issue. Unless the boss has changed or head office have intervened then I am pretty sure you can teach there without on. |

Trust me if a school need a teacher, and can see they can do the job. Chances are the 'qualifications" needed are dropped, if the DOS is impressed enough.
Another fallacy in the ESL Industry is that a TEFL or CELTA "make you a teacher." Sorry but from my own experience I have seen both some "pretty" good and terrible teachers.
Thats one reason many Schools are flexible about who they hire, as they have been let down in many occassions by qualified, overseas hires- who simply never made the grade.
(Look at western Bankers- Did their qualifications matter when they lost billions?)
Send in your CV to TBI Bekasi, and good luck. |
