I don't know if anyone can answer, and my husband appears to be confused and misinformed, but as he is from Rostov/Novocherkassk and is NOT registered in Moscow does this mean we, or I, can't even move to Moscow?He lived in Moscow for eight years and never registered (he doesn't believe in it, he says). OK. But now he's talking about calling a lawyer in Rostov and paying him some money for a private visa or invitation for me, which seems to get me to Rostov and not to Moscow, at least not to work.

Yes, I had suspected as much- that to enter Russia would be pretty easy but to move there difficult. A better long term plan would have been to move to the US, where the living is easy and career prospects good all around, but we are just not planners around here. Anyway, spasiba and I hope to soon be supping solyanka in Project OGI.

take up a teachers job and as long as you have it , you can have moscow registration. he is the problem in this case not you(not to be mean) as he needs to have registration for moscow to invite you there. if he has some relative in moscow who can invite you instead that might be a way out but the best scenario is for him to get registered in moscow SOMEHOW and then do the rest legit. good luck with that...by the way...why don't you consider rostov? it is a rather nice green city with better climate.

hi yakov1, I'd definitely pick Rostov over Moscow. Husband wants to follow the money and action. Maybe I'll convince him to pursue a quieter life. After six years in London I wouldn't mind a break from the crowds.

Actually if anyone has tips on nice small cities with less miserable weather than Moscow's that would be great. My husband already has a part-time gig freelancing for a company in London for �1000 a month which I think could very basically support us in much of Russia (that's $1500 a month).

if rostov is easier then i would chose it, it is a very nice city and good climate. certainly moscow is a place of opportunity but it is also full of people with that same idea. move out from moscow and stretch your legs for some real possibilities. the south of russia is great, i live in volgograd which is very nice but will be moving to krasnodar in june which is even better. if you don't live in the absolute heart of a city centre and expect euro remont(european style new renovation) than that money is enough to support you both. then you can teach for some nice pocket money on the side(if he solves the invitation for you then freelance is a breeze) and he can take whatever jobs takes his fancy....and you can both work part time and have a good quality of life.
