Sohar University posted an ad for teachers on April 29 (today), but their e-mail supplied rejects my application and even one with no attachments that I sent to test the address. Does anyone know the reason for this or a method of actually making an application there?

Any information about the school itself and the location are welcome as well.

The e-mail addy supplied and applied to is: [email protected]

What we may have is what just happened with another employer in Oman. Their inbox gets full and they don't know it. Hopefully someone from Sohar is reading so they can notify the HR office.

Dear veiledsentments,

Ah, 10001 (mostly) Arabian (i.e. the whole peninsula, that is) posts.

That's way ahead of Scheherazade.

Regards,
John

I sent my papers too and my file went in smoothly.
Probably mine was sent just in time for the box to accept it, whereas yours was sent too late, when the box was brimming over.

There is weekend now in Oman, so for today and morrow, unless the man in charge of ESL opens his mail box over the weekend - and that may not be the case as the email address is a university, not a private one - the box may remain over quota. So try anew on Saturday.

Vlad's e-mail address is correct. I suspect that his in box maybe full. Omantel here gives very little space on these accounts.
I will let him know.

I have spoken to Vlad and he says try again. The problem is Omantel - the Omani telephone company.

Although it raises some suspicions these days, they should just go ahead and open up a hotmail or gmail account to receive applications because of the size of the attachments.

I spoke to Vlad and suggested this - he was wary as you suggest it may cause suspicion, but he will get back to me when it's set up.

What I would suggest to him is that in any future job adverts, he could give both email addresses. Then if his Omantel inbox gets full, applicants can go to his internet based address.

I applied for the job mentioned by the OP and got a quick response saying I had been short listed for an interview. I am still waiting for the interview. Another person I know also was short listed and still has not been interviewed. Has anyone been interviewed yet? Has the uni already selected their teachers for the fall? Any info would be appreciated.

and like everyone else didn't hear back. However, I wrote to Vlad and he sent me an email at the end of May they had more than enough well qualified applicants that they didn't need me for the coming term.

C'est la vie.
