We currently employ more than 60 Filipino teachers at our main campus. All of them have English proficiency levels of C1 or C2 and 15 of them are certified by Cambridge as English Language examiners.

If POEA wasn't so stupid there would be 10,000 more Filipino teachers working in Thailand and getting international experience to bring home.

DEPED also has a priority hiring process for teachers who have 5 or more years of experience abroad and who wish to return home.

For as long as the corruption and unreliable employment at government agencies continue to exist...

For as long as the economy runs of OFW remittances (rather than building a sustainable economy) ... there will continue to be the brain drain.

Like I said... if POEA didn't have their hand in the pie picking the pockets of OFWs and the Bureau of Immigration collecting a "fee" for off-loading outbound job seekers (over booked plane... no problem. Just offload a few and there are seats to spare) there would be a lot more teachers working in Thailand and China.

They put up many barriers to block people from leaving. If they didn't then much of the population would try and escape the dire poverty there.

Filipino English teachers are not native English speakers........nearly all schools hire them in Thailand simply because they are cheap labor..... Rolling Eyes
