So, after 11 months of waiting, my mom gets my degree today, which
1. hasn't been signed by the king of Spain like they said, and
2. was issued in January.

In Spain, they put DOB and place of birth. I was born in CA, USA, HOWEVER, according to my lovely MA, I was born in Bagua, Peru. Which, is some dinky town in the Amazons that I've never heard of let alone been to.. HOW they screwed this up is beyond me, especially since I JUST gave them a copy of my passport in July 2009.

So, is it valid?

It makes you appear to possibly be a non-native English speaker. Not a total bad thing, but not really an advantage either.

Dear naturegirl321,

Proving yet once again that Murphy's Law is enforced internationally.

Sorry,
John

Actually, it WOULD be funny if it wasn't happening to me. It took 2 years of course work and 1.5 to pass my thesis, 11 months of waiting, and for what? A degree that looks fake?

Yep, and it's my American name, not Peruvian one, but I'm just upset at their complete ability to do anything. My proof of graduation said

We certify that Sharon, student of the Master in in TELF (in in and TELF are their mistakes, not my typos) through the University of Jaen.

Yep, that's right they're certifying WHAT? They're missing a VERB in the sentence and that is a translation from Spanish to English. Spanish is their native langauge and they got it wrong. I understand that people make mistakes, however, they need to proof read important docs such as these.

Is it valid? Well...it's not illegal. Or fraudulent.

Does it look good? Not at all. Were I you, I wouldn't use the actual diploma until you get these errors fixed.

Raise hell with the Uni about this. THey richly deserve it.

Best,

Justin

It took 11 months for this degree. Not sure how long it will take them to fix it. here-s the kicker, I don-t show my uni here in Korea my MA degree, I lose my job. I-ve got until August 31st to have this fixed or I get fired.

I already emailed the balck and white scan to the person in charge here in Korea, my mom doesn-t have a color scanner. I just hope they don-t notice the mistake.

And I have emailed ALL admin in Peru and Spain. I-ve heard back from one in Peru, only because she was on my Skype. SHe actually had the indecency to scold me for being upset! I think that wat happened was that they used some program to import infro from Excel to Word. it got thrown off. If that-s the case, then my degree isn-t the only one with mistakes.

I-m pretty sure that they are trying to take an official stance on what they have to do before they email me back. I-m still seething.
