|
|
I am British and have been living and working in France for the last five years. I am now looking at teaching in Asia.
Obviously speaking both English and French in countries like Vietnam and Cambodia is going to be a plus. But I'd to know if schools specifically recruit teachers with both languages ? Would a native English speaker be able to take French classes? (I have a BA in English & Mod Langs & some teaching experience, I speak French fluently) |

Hi Sarah,
You might want to post this question on the Khmer 440 discussion board. I think you might be able to get an answer to your question there, at least as it relates to Cambodia.
Cheers,

I asked a similar question on the Japan board already and had a few helpful replies.

Where are you working in France? Why are you thinking of leaving? |

Thanks for the link back to your earlier question lostinparis.
It'd be nice to use my French, although it seems as if my English will be the main issue when applying for any of these teaching jobs.
Cheers. |

Thre is a French culture centre on street 240 in Phnom Penh---- they have french conversation classes.
French is quite useful in Cambodia, especially outside the main cities where few speak english. The generation now 45 and up were educated in french.
The elites still send their children to French classes, but most language learners want English. |
