Hi there,
I would like to hear the experiences of anyone who has taught in a Japanese summer camp.
I have done extensive searches on this, but have not been able to find the basic info about how it works in Japan. So here are some specific questions, I would really appreciate it if anyone can take the time to answer.
1/ How common are summer camp English teaching jobs in Japan? There dont seem to be many advertised.
2/ What type of visa would you need?
3/ Do the camps include food and accommodation?
4/ Approximately how much would you get paid?
5/ Is it common (or even feasible) to go to Japan just to teach on the camp, spend a couple of weeks sightseeing and then leave again?
6/ If you have done this, did you enjoy it?
Cheers!

Doubtful. Any paid work here requires a visa, and a couple of weeks of work just does not justify a visa to the employer. You might get lucky with some university affiliation offering such a thing, but otherwise I'd say your chances of waltzing in and out are zero.
The type of visa would have to be either Instructor or Specialist in Humanities/International Relations. |

I dont know the current details but Columbia International school (6-16 year olds) in Tokorazawa runs a summer school in the late July early August period. Usually 2 to 3 weeks. Pay is approx 200,000 . I dont think you will find them adveritsing, usually word of mouth. |
