I am a university student minoring in TESOL with the hope of teaching in Southeast Asia. At the end of this month (May) I will be participating in a study abroad program on a special TESOL grant and will be in Vietnam for about 12 days. As part of the grant conditions, I will be trying to learn as much as I can about the role of English in Vietnam; as well as the English Education system and the presence of American teachers.
If there are any TESOL teachers who might be interested in meeting with me while I am in Vietnam I would love to talk to you about your experiences! My trip starts in Hanoi, then Halong Bay, Hue, and HCMC. However I think that I will have the most free time while in HCMC. I can work out more details with anyone who responds.
Even if you're not in Vietnam, or available to meet, I would love to hear any advice or insight about TESOL there! Thanks! |

I'm willing to meet up, I completed my CELTA in Saigon Oct 09 and have been teaching since then. I'm interested to hear about TESOL programs in the universities and see how it compares to certification programs. |

I'm a TESOL trainer- I teach TESOL. Been doing that in Vietnam for almost 9 years now. Also instruct in the class-room for IELTS. TOEFL, etc.
I'm in Hanoi- Good local national knowledge. We can meet if you want.
PM me. |

snollygoster- I would love to hear your perspective, especially because you've been in country for so long. Unfortunately, I've already left Hanoi (am in Hue right now and will be in HCMC soon) and so am not able to meet in person. Thank you so much for being will to do so though! My PM option doesn't work but if you'd like to email me I would greatly appreciate it! ([email protected]) I'd like to hear about your perspective of the importance of English in Vietnam and maybe how it has changed over time.
Kawika- Thanks so much! I absolutely want to meet with you. I'm going to check my itinerary again to make sure where my hotel is and what time would be best. If you could email me as well, I would appreciate it and I will respond to you that way sometime later today (Thursday the 20th). |
