hey,
I am currently in Japan on a 90 day tourist visa on an Australian passport. I have no BA degree. But i do have a TESOL certificate, would anyone be able give me options on how to stay in Japan without going back to Australia to process a whv.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you for your time

You might be able to get a job in the entertainment field (modeling, commercial acting, etc.) and then you would qualify for another catregory of visa. You could register as a fulltime student somewhere- then you could get a student visa. Get married? (Just kidding) I am not sure how many 90 day tourist visas one is allowed per year- perhaps you could leave and come back repeatedly? I am not an expert on any of this, I am just bouncing some ideas around for you to mull over. Good luck to you. (Get that degree- you could even do it in Japan)

Normally it is possible to renew a 90 day tourist visa for a further 90 days by going to Korea for extending the visa, but you must be able to show immigration you have the funds and means to support yourself for up to 6 months in Japan with no means of income. You are not allowed to work on a tourist visa. If you show to immigration you dont have enough money to support yourself, you may be refused entry.

A quick check seems to indicate you can only apply for a working holiday from within Australia through the Japanese embassy, and you can not apply for it once you are in Japan. It is a separate visa available to Australians who want to come to Japan, but are not here already. Very unlikely you can get one changed over from a tourist visa.

be eligible for the grant of a WHM visa you must:

be between 18 and 30 years of age at time of application;
be a citizen of a country with whom Australia has mutual working holiday arrangements. Currently, these countries are: UK; Republic of Ireland; Canada; Cyprus; Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR); Germany; Japan; Republic of Korea; Malta; Netherlands; Norway; Sweden; Denmark and Finland.
intend to travel and holiday in Australia with the option of taking incidental work to supplement your holiday funds. (The visa is issued subject to the condition that you do not work for longer than 3 months with the same employer);
have sufficient funds for the fare to your intended overseas destination on leaving Australia PLUS enough money to support yourself during your working holiday;
have no dependent children;
have not previously entered Australia on a WHM visa; and
meet health and character requirements.
