Hello, I'd like to introduce myself. I'm ignace! I have prior experience (totaling one year) teaching adults in Seoul and Beijing.
I've been accepted to the CELTA program at ILA in Ho Chi Minh City - I'll be taking the course in August.
I'd like to inquire about job possibilities after the course. My initial plan is to get hired by ILA, but I have heard mixed accounts about the desirability of this school. I'm not enthused about the prospect of only teaching very young learners. I'm wondering what other options I will have.
ACET, RMIT, Apollo, British Council have all been mentioned as recommendations on this forum and elsewhere. These schools all seem to require more than one year's prior experience. For what it's worth, the single year of experience I had was quite intensive and I believe I come across quite well in an interview setting.
So, what am I looking at? Is ILA the only thing immediately open to me? Do these other schools break their multiple-year experience policy? What would you do in my shoes?
I very much appreciate your help and advice. |

ignace,
I would like to know more about your experience with ILA. I am coming in October, hopefully.

BB,
Sure, I'll be glad to let you know how my experience goes. Feel free to PM me later. It's possible I will only be taking the CELTA with them. I'm hoping this thread will paint a clearer picture of what my post-CELTA options will be.
Best,

I'll be at ILA's CELTA course in September so I'm looking forward to reading your experiences and I'll be sure to post mine as well. |
