Hi,

I'm thinking about heading for Antalya to look for an ESL job. I have 2 bachelor degrees and a CELTA but not much teaching experience. Is this the wrong time of year? I've found a few private English schools online but couldn't "discover" the email address. I'm just wondering if it'll be a fruitless journey.
Anyone there already that can give me some advice? Or anyone who has been there? or any advice at all? Laughing
Any information would be helpful.

Thank you!

Hi CallieWho. Antalya is an interesting choice of city. Although a tourism city the city is quite big and so there should be enough call for a few foreign teachers. Going out there to see if you like it and to get interviewed can only be a very good thing. The opportunity to teach a trial lesson I think is your answer, even if not requested. The timing is the issue and that might be a matter of holding your nerve if your offer should come now for I suspect early October. A few language schools will continue teaching maybe through the summer I guess because Antalya is a major city. Others may close their doors in early June. How would you feel about teaching in the heat during a very hot Antalya summer if asked to do this? Good luck. Cool

Ted Koleji and Istek Vakif-to open in Sept/Oct- were hiring for the autumn. Don't know if they still need teachers.
There are lots of other private colleges as well.Might be worth phoning them (forget email) or spending a week here visiting them all.
Dersane work is thin on the ground from now till Sept and as you probably know is paid 15ytl an hour (if you get paid).
Are you are a primary/preschool teacher? If so, visit www.icca.infoas the local English-language nursery is hiring for Sept. It's British-owned, a positive place to work and you ALWAYS get paid (you may have noticed I don't really trust employers here)
Good luck
