I had read good things about AMIDEAST on on the Middle East board, so I sent my resume to every one of their centers. I just received a reply from the UAE center: we don't offer visas, sponsorship, flights, accommodation, paid leave, or full time contracts. But if I'm able to get a visa on my own and be happy with that situation, they'd be very interested interviewing me...
They must hire only local native speaking teachers? |

This is likely the situation in all of the Gulf countries. They can always find teachers who are there on spousal visas, and foreign hire contracts would be too expensive for them. This is the situation with most language schools.
They do some foreign hires in Morocco, Yemen, Tunisia... and not sure about Egypt.

You would find it difficult to get a work or residency visa without a sponsor unless you are married and your spouse was working and they could sponsor you.
Working on a visit visa is not a good idea IMHO as you are subject to deportation and ban if you get caught - is that likely to happen? Perhaps not - depends if you can keep a low profile and no one knows your status. Also, you'd have to do regular visa runs If you are interested in staying in the UAE over the longer term, it's probably not a good idea.
It's a lot less headache to find a job with an employer who will look after the legalities |

| No, not interested in teaching without a visa. I am considering the Middle East/North Africa, just a bit difficult at this point because of my low quals (CELTA, 1 year experience). |
