|
|
Hello,
I have a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, but no special TEFL, TESOL, etc. certification, and no prior teaching experience or Mandarin experience as yet.
Does anyone have advice on what is a reasonable salary to expect per month, Full-time, for someone like myself, and what would be too low?
I'm not sure what city I'd teach in, but I'm leaning towards Taipei.
Thanks! |

40k to 60k a month. More is possible but I'd expect around this. Could be higher if more hours etc. |

IMHO you would be lucky to get a full-time job. I am guessing you are not in Taiwan yet. So, no experience, no teaching qualifications, not in country and can not speak the local language. I hope you have some bank to prop you up until you find something.
As for salary 40,000 - 60,000 is about rite. Maybe you could find a couple of part-time 12 hour a week deals and pair them up. When I was looking in March 12-15 hours a week including Saturdays seemed to be the majority of what was on offer. |

Please link me to job ads showing positions available for 80k a month (please don't start talking about 2 or 3 jobs to earn that amount, it is clear this post was in reference to a single job). To the OP, just cruise job boards and you will see the going salary/hourly rates. |

Yes, but would this all be from a single job? |

Why would one work more hours at a single job for 60,000 than you can teaching business classes, high school classes, etc.? Some schools that pay a 60,000NT salary want you to spend 8 hours a day at their school. |

Where are these 80k jobs though that you mentioned? The OP clearly asked what the average pay was and you replied with 80k, so it might be extremely helpful to show an example of these jobs. |

I'm just pointing out what may not be obvious to people new to the forum and to Taiwan.
As you mentioned in an earlier post - in Taiwan it's necessary to work in more than one place to make money. |

I never posted anything about an 80K job. I suggest you read my post more closely. |

I will add that these new school hours in Taipei may make a dent in my earnings. Things should be interesting in September. |

Most schools pay by the hour, these days typically NT600/hour. The problem is that many new teachers arrive and are not able to get a lot of hours.. With that being said I would guess that you could make NT50,000 a month. |

Why do people have to be so coy with words? Are you a politician now or just trying to save "face"? How about you read the OPs post. If it is too difficult, I shall help you. He wants to know what most cram schools pay for full-time positions. I hope that helps.
