I've been hearing great things about ILA recently and would like to apply there but I want to ask a question to ex or current ILA teachers. My wife is a Nepali citizen who has been teaching ESL for 19 years at an American International School in Nepal. She also has her Master's in English and a TEFL certification. Is ILA a non-discriminatory organization that would hire her or are they strict on just hiring native English speakers? Thanks. |

ILA only hires native speakers.
If English was not her first native language, then no, ILA will not hire her. |

I know ILA policies and I have worked at ILA and I know manager there, past and present.
Maybe a non-native got hired in the days they they were desperate but ILA has a steady supply of teachers.
Non-native, then won't be hired at ILA. |

I also know ILA policies, I know the teachers that work there, I know the managers and I even know a few of the security guards there. They do hire non-native speakers in special circumstances. |

Translation --> When they have a shortage of teachers they will hire a non-native speaker.

If English skills are equal to native speaker level, there is usually not a problem. In my experience the company hires a diverse range of teachers. I've worked with teachers from Latin American countries as well as French speaking European countries, and with Americans of Asian and African descent. In fact ILA even has a manager from a non-English speaking country. BUT, with the qualifications you mentioned for your wife, I would suggest she look into better paying options, such as at an International school or university teaching. |

Thank you, "toiheuthitmeo"
You have a Vietnamese username and you have a first time post.
If you claim that ILA has a manager from a non-native country, can you please tell us which branch? I've never heard of it. |

Cheers. |
