Can anyone recommend a good series of coursebooks that might be worth investing in? I am considering returning to work in China, but with some new coursebooks under my arms to teach from.

I have used Face 2 Face lower int and intermediate. Quite liked those, a good mix of oral and listening activities, lots of functional language, and more grammar in context stuff rather than endless fill the gaps.

I also liked the Passages series from New Interchange. These are the higher level books. Quite interactive with a lot of useful, real worldy topics that are ripe for discussion in Oral classes.

Im in the UK at the monent, and can try to find some copies of coursebooks, but I would like some suggestions from the more experienced old hands out there.

The focus of my work tends to be oral, and I normally work with small groups of adults students, teaching general english...anything I should try and get hold of?

Is that from torrents etc. bah! I dont get technology...and dont understand all that stuff..... Oh to be young and tech-savvy!

Im not 100% sure of my next move, but if I return to China I will need to buy some solid material I think. I went for a drink with a UK teacher today and he said he has downloaded some books...I mentioned I find it hard to look at books online and visualise my lessons....

'Its an age thing!' he said. I changed the subject...crushed Crying or Very sad

Yeah torrents or even englishtips.org, which is easier to use if you are not too au fait with this stuff.

It's not an age thing at all. Just get someone else to set it up for you on your PC and away you go. All your photocopiable resources from teachers' books, and CDs etc can be then kept on a nice smart portable hard drive. I usually buy the students book anyway, as I like to have a physical book, as you do. But if you are planning to travel, this downloading business really is the way to go.
