I have been offered a job teaching English at Yang-En University. The contract appears straightforward, on campus apt, 5000RMB a month, 16 contact hours a week with OT after that if it happens, curriculum provided. All in all it sounds decent. The recruiter writes excellent english so there is no language problem. All of his emails come from the university HR/foreign affairs dept, so he may be an employee of the school, not sure.
Has anyone heard of/worked at/knows someone etc etc this school. I have checked it out and it certainly seems together.
I have been teaching in Laos for 4 years and have a BA in Communications + TESOL. I'm also a little older, 49, but look 10 years younger so I am told!
I also have a job offer from GEPIK in Korea. Any advice? Suggestions?
Humourous stories!!!

Tha ks for the discussion. I do agree that it was odd to see a number on Dave's regarding salary but be offered less. However, this is Asia and contracts are much more interpretive here than in the West so I wasn't terribly concerned about that. I realize it is an entry level position, but as such it may open doors to more lucrative things. As for being in the countryside, that is where I like it. I'm not much of a big city guy, I can find a party even if I'm the only one there! |
