Why do many people want to stay in Japan and work with these low salaries and conditions?
What is so bad about there home country?
A few people I had met in Tokyo, would just do anything to work here in Japan. Even if the job paid 190,000 Yen monthly.
Is there situation back home bad or something?
I am confused, because I know that Many experienced teachers pointed out that the standard for the past decade was 250,000 Yen.
I know even with that you must include all living expenses. (Rent, Utilities, Food, Transportation, Leisure)
I had met up with a bunch of my friends and other people that I was introduced to. During are outing I had some guys say, I can't go home I must stay here in Japan and get whatever Job I can.
As a few people pointed out the people who choose to take these positions that offer low pay as well as conditions will hurt this market. |

First, your English is frighteningly bad. I'm not even talking about typos; there are a ton of really low-level errors in there. I sincerely hope that you're not an English teacher.
Second, do you seriously expect there to be one unifying answer for why people want to stay in Japan? You think there's some kind of universal reason that people say that they can't go back to their home countries?
"What is so bad about there[sic] home country?" Seriously? Do you think they're all from the same country and all have the same reasons? Everybody's got their own situation and their own problems. 事情, that's why. |

Some things are just more important than money and being in Japan for many is one of those things! |

I think what Klis is trying to say is, "If teaching English in Japan is a such a shite job these days (on average), why are people so eager to work there?" Correct me if I'm wrong. |

Based on your horrible spelling and grammar, I'm going to go ahead and assume you're American. Therefore, you should know the disastrous economic climate that the US is in and how difficult it is to find a job anymore. If I stayed in the US, even with my high education, I would probably have to rely on people I know to pull strings to get a job, and even that would be something that would pay no more than $18 an hour.
These days, the choices most people have are live with your parents, work at McDonald's, go to grad/law school or try to find work abroad. |

Now there is a dangerous remark if I ever did see one.
Actually, I thought that perhaps they were a non-native English speaker... perhaps even Japanese. Grammar and spelling aside, there is something not quite natural about some of the wording or even the nature of the question. |

The economy is bad everywhere. Many people who come to Japan to teach have lost their jobs elsewhere, whether having been fired or laid off or quit. Some who quit are looking for a change of pace. Many who come have an exotic image of Japan in mind.
Those who decide to stay despite low salary probably just find the country more attractive in ways than their home country. They can get by here with minimal Japanese, date prolifically (the "Charisma Man" syndrome), see sights they can't back home, etc. Many have simply found a romantic partner that they refuse to leave. |

Check. Check. Check. And check. Not necessarily in that order. |

This is my reason right here. Desperately in need of a job after being out of work (laid off rather) for nearly three years and hating the fact that at no point have I ever lived away from my family because I just couldn't afford it. I hadn't had any full-time work positions since 2007, so yeah, was getting desperate, frustrated, and exasperated. I couldn't find anything, even at places like McDonald's and Wal-Mart (always was told I was overqualified for the positions). So, applied for overseas work. Was always semi-interested in Japan anyway, so decided to try my luck with that. I was also applying to jobs elsewhere, not just Japan and had an offer in Singapore too. |

I left a good, secure job with a big global company in London because I was bored.
Glenski, tell me more about this "Charisma Man" syndrome! |

I could be wrong, but "Charisma Man" syndrome (or "Charisma Woman" syndrome even) involves an average looking guy/gal from a foreign country who suddenly attracts many "followers" solely based on their "foreign-ness." In their home country, they're just another average Joe/Jane. In Japan they are a SUPER STAR!
This sometimes ties into the acting/modeling industry in which Japanese producers want some foreigners solely because they don't look Japanese. Is this true? Who knows. I'd imagine they'd have to at least have some modicum of talent?

Although this charisma man stuff was popular a while back inthe 80s and 90s, but isn't it a bit outdated now ?
The Japanese are getting/have gotten used to giajjins here, depends on where you are living, and only the desperate like to cling on.
I hear that China is the new place for charisma men/women. |
