Service with a smile !? I sometimes wonder if those chinless wonders running Her Britannic Majesty's Foreign Office realise how they must seem to the Great Unwashed ? |
Well, Uncle Scott, they want your biometric information to be safely stored in Duesseldorf for security reasons!
Rebember what happened in Dubai, when the Mossad used faked British passports to enter Dubai for a hidden agenda! |

Thanks for this advice, Scot; it was news to me.
and thanks for the link, provided much information and interest!
May I point out to Brits that you can apply up to 9 months in advance for a new passport, without decreasing the validity period. So if you're going to be in UK for the summer, it will be significantly cheaper and less hassle to get a new passport there, from what is now called the IPS, Identity and Passport Service. (6 regional offices) (but I don't think you can get a new identity, even if you're over there)
The UK fee for "Jumbo" passport (jumbo?!!) is 90.50 pounds; if you're in a hurry use fast track= one week, 112.50 pounds as opposed to the Dusseldorf fee of 179 euros, PLUS courier fees both ways of 180 SR.
Quite a convoluted procedure; if it weren't for the fact that we're already here, I'd say it was good practice for KSA. |
