|
|
So all I keep finding are these jobs that are going to make me teach on weekends. I guess this is a common theme with training schools? I really want to work Monday-Friday because I love having a social life on the weekends.
I know in public schools you only have to work Monday-Friday but I haven't found a single one advertising yet. Is it too late for landing a job at a public school? |

Since most regular schools are Monday through Friday from, say, 7:30 AM to maybe 5PM, then the language mills are only going to be able to take in students on weeknights and then even more so on the weekends. I think, being early June now, you won't be able to find a public school job for right now. You may have to work a language school for the next several weeks while trying to find a public school job starting in September. |

Yep, weekends are my busiest days of the week. Works for me though as I then have Monday & Tuesday off, as well as Wednesday mostly (just work from 6.00-7.30pm). Good for shopping & so on as many people are at work. Shopping on the weekends is a NIGHTMARE!! Plus I socialise with the fts & cts & other ccs from my office & they have a similar schedule. |

I understand your stress as I also want weekends free, mostly due to the fact of socializing with non-FT expats. Many of the public sector is doing Visas and FExp books now and it will become apparent soon who will stay and who will not be invited back. Many of the outer tier schools located outside major cities will try and fill their rolls first as it is harder to fill those positions. Many of the programs in the city will not know til recruitment is on going... wait and there should be plenty of week work around... |

Working on the weekends is really not that bad. I think we're pretty lucky where we are - we work a Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. So we get the whole week off. Its not always easy getting together with the FT's from other schools but we still socialise a lot. |

I work at a private language school, we dont work weekends or evenings. Students leave their jobs and come to study with us during regular hours. Classes run from 8.30-10.10, 10.20-12.00 and during summer, 15.00-16.40
Choose a school carefully and get the hours you want I reckon. |

you wont be able to start at a public school right now... but this is the best time to find a public job for a sept. start... We had 2 demo classes this week.. contracts will likely be signed within a few days. |
