I am due to travel to Europe in August to study on the 4 week intensive CELTA course. All through the application process, and up to them sending me all the pre-course materials (and me sending the deposit) they were friendly, and responded extremely quickly to any queries I had.
However i've emailed them twice recently (a week apart) with another question I had, and received no response. I thought they may have been having some problems with that particular email address so emailed the DoS (who interviewed me over the phone and told me to email him if I had any problems), but I haven't received a response from him yet either.
I know I could just call them, and intend to do that if I don't receive a response from the DoS in the next couple of days. I will be studying with a massive language company so I find it highly unlikely that they've gone bust or anything else which may cause them to suddenly go dark. I have also read numerous glowing reviews of the school and course so, again, i'm sure there's a good reason for them going silent on me. At the same time, however, i'm due to pay the balance (500GBP) shortly and want to feel a little more reassured before I pass such a large amount of money to them.
It isn't even that important a question really, but if they're not responding to me now, it just makes me wonder what they will be like when i'm trying to organise someone to meet me when I arrive/what the actual organisation on the course will be like.
Does anyone else have experience of this, and able to set my mind at rest?
Thanks |

It's not nice to be ignored, and I don't mean to excuse the school. But I used to work in a couple of positions in a training centre long ago, and it did happen on the (for me really rare) occasion when I was too busy with, for example
1. a course coming to an end
2. trying to take my own much-needed holiday, and no-one to replace me
3. unexpected serious demands
and delayed responses for a few days.
Obviously I don't know what school you're referring to specifically, but I can at least say that it's really rare that an established school would leave you stranded at an airport or not provide a coherent course. CELTA in particular must meet the standards.
The other side of this is that I do think it's poor business and professional practice not to get back to people, especially if you expect them to send more money!! |

Thanks spiral. I am telling myself that they are just very busy with courses and dealing with other issues. I really don't think that they are ignoring me on purpose but, as you rightly said, it still isn't very professional of them when they're still expecting me to hand money over to them. And as one of the questions I have relates to the payment I have yet to make, it really would be in their best interests to answer.
I'll get hold of them somehow anyways. |
