To the Sage of Santa Fe I can only say that I trust in Divine Providence, although I am aware that it may well be Auld Nick himsel' who is guiding my steps.

A recent bout with Gouty Arthritis, Diabetic Foot and Neuropathic Ulcers has persuaded me that the time is approaching when I should hang up my hat and take my boots off.

I'd love to hear the plan. However, I fear you will find retirement too boring, scot47. Whatever else you can say about working in our field, it provides an interesting life with lots of good stories to tell. Are you sure you have collected enough of those stories to last the rest of you (may it be long) life?

Alas, I fear Scotland is in for a long wait, perhaps even an eternal one. I could be wrong but I don't believe scot47's retirement plans include a return to his homeland.

There will be a Press Release and associated Press Conference on 1 May. Well - if Tiger Woods can do this, why can't I ?
