Dear All,

We have received confirmation from the Dean that none of the EdEx teachers will be needed in Qassim during the summer. To that effect, I have attached the leave request form for those wishing to take their 30 days paid holiday from July 1st onwards. Teachers are entitled to 30 days paid holiday--to be paid upon their return to Saudi Arabia--but may extend their leave until September 18th at their own expense.

Those who leave for the summer and accept offers for the next academic year will be provided with a flight ticket from their country of origin to Saudi Arabia.
On the other hand, those wishing to remain in Saudi Arabia for the duration of their contracts may do so and will then be entitled to 30 days holiday--paid upfront--at the end of their 11th month. Those opting for this option will be re-located to Riyadh (or elsewhere within KSA) soon after July 1st.

In sum, you may choose one of the following options:

1. Take your 30 days paid leave (paid upon your return to KSA) between July 1st and September 18th and return to resume your contract OR
2. Take your 30 days paid leave (paid upon your return to KSA) plus the remaining days unpaid between July 1st and September 18th and return for a new contract (subject to upcoming projects and being offered a contract), those opting for this option will be given a return ticket to their point of origin as well as a ticket to Saudi Arabia upon signing the new contract OR
3. Remain in Saudi Arabia until the end of your 11th month and then take your 30 days leave which will be paid to you prior to leaving the country, you will also be entitled to a return ticket to your point of origin.

Please let me know which option you would like to opt for by either filling in the leave request form (attached) or replying to this e-mail.

Regards,

O

Thanks but could you just kick me a bit harder in the rear? The EdEx boot didn't quite go up all the way, you know where.

It is not clear to me why you are upset... if you choose to stay will you be paid for the full 11 months plus your holiday pay?

Don't most reputable employers pay employees's holiday pay up front prior to your taking the summer vacation? Hmmmn...

Dear Veiled,

I shall explain. Not all of us arrived at the sane (intentional mistake) time. By the time some of us complete our contracts and take our vacancy pay it will be Sept. 10+. This means we start late again and some new teachers come in before us and set up shop and create their wastas to get the advantage over us late comers again. Even though we are now with one year experience with EdEx, it's the early expat that gets the wasta.

This place is run like a soup kitchen for ESL teachers. If your late you go hungry.

ps. and we are supposed to be the educated
