I've been looking at a school in the Baiyun disrict of Guangzhou. The school looks nice but does anyone know about this area. To me it sounds like it is a little out from the city. Info. on the area please?

I live in the Baiyun District (close to the old airport). Where abouts is the school you're considering?

Cheers!

The school is called English School attached to Guangdong International School of Foreign Studies. Any ideas?

The campus you're looking at is actually in the Tai Ping District...quite close to the airport. It's a nice area...not too built up and transportation into the city should not be a problem.

I would assume you'd be living on-campus. I couldn't tell you much about off-campus living in that area as I've only seen the residential buildings while passing by in a taxi (and from what I've seen, the off-campus residential area is quite old and run-down).

The Howard Johnson's Hawana Resort is nearby (map here: http://www.holidaycity.com/hojo-hawana-guangzhou/map.html). I live on the other side of the airport road, just south-west of there.

Cheers!

I also live in Baiyun district, together with my husband and my son. The place is really nice, a little bit far from the centre, but we have already learnt how to use different means of transport, I am trying to memorise the numbers of buses that can get us to the centre.
I haven't heard about the school, though, so I can't give you any advice, sorry.
