Hi,
Im hoping to complete a TEFL course with a view to teaching in europe, however everytime I search I seem to find "the best" tefl course available. At the moment Im swaying towards applying for a CELT course, as it seems that these courses could open up more opportunities then a basic TEFL, would I be right in my assumption? Any advice for someone just starting out-courses etc thanks |

Hello
The minimum standard for most jobs is the one month intensive course with observed teaching. Search for courses like CELTA, Trinity or SIT. There are other courses that meet the standards...but these 3 are the most recognised. Avoid online courses, weekend courses etc. These will part you and you hard earned, and are unlikely to help you find a job as many employers do not accept such courses.
Good luck |

Your nationality is also an issue for European jobs. Most western Euro countries don't give legal work permits to non-EU citizens....hence, UK teachers are the only real contenders for the (relatively few, these days) jobs around.
If this is not a problem (assuming you are from the UK) a CELTA is the basic standard for this region - yes. |
