I am married to a Filipina and seeking work in Taiwan. Is this going to pose a problem with Taiwan immigration? She will not be seeking work there, just as a spouse. Advice?

It's ok Rooster...it actually made me laugh. Just goes to show you how you can't hide in a digital world. I completely forgot about the previous post. But yes, if someone has specific information I'd appreciate it. If not I'll check with the Taiwan embassy in Manila once I'm back there next week.

Yes, I was. My fiance and I had broken up and I thought it was for good. We decided to get back together and get married. But does any of this have anything to do with my post? Seems to me like maybe you're a little more interested in gossip and judgement. Not that it's any of your concern, but last month I was planning to move to Taiwan alone because my fiance and I had broken up. We've since gotten back together, and obviously I turned down that job and stayed here in PI. But if you don't have an answer to the question, why bother to reply at all?

Hi Kimcordle,

You need to give just enough information to keep everyone from getting confused. Obviously, Rooster and I are fairly intelligent people who remember things we have read in the past month or so.

As for an answer to your question, you need to read Forumosa. It is far more likely that you will find an answer there. I just did a quick check, and it appears that your wife could join you in Taiwan--but she would never be allowed to work legally.

However, she could certainly find some work to do in a small shop, company, etc. based on her skills and experience.

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't be looking for a work visa for her though. She does home based work on the internet which she can do from anywhere. Just need a spouse visa with me getting the work visa. I guess I need to find out if this can be pre-arranged or if I just have her come with me on a tourist visa and convert it. Hoping to find a kindergarten or early elementary position. I'll check the website you suggested. Thanks again.
