Has anyone heard of this course from Camridge? SIT also offers it and a uni in Australia. It's the International Diploma in Language Teaching Management. If you've taken it, I'd like to hear what you thought of the course. |

I've known a couple of people who did the SIT version, generally had positive things to say about it. Also know the guy who was the main tutor on the course until a few years ago. Again, very competent fellow. The people who took it though were mainly school managers rather than teachers, so it's really only useful if you're planning to get involved heavily on the administrative side. |

A friend of mine took it through IH Barcelona- it's only good if you're thinking of working in a language school and/or in management. He found it to be really useful and it's opened up lots of opportunities for him... |

I've taken it, through UQ in Australia.
It is considered DELTA level, and like most of Cambridges teaching awards is a Diploma awarded by Cambridge.
It is designed for teachers, teachers who are moving into management. The point of it is that there are a lot of highly competent teachers who are running schools and actually have problems dealing with finances, marketing plans, organisations set-up, legal contract issues, customer service balance, etc...and the IDLTM addresses all theses through postgrad level management modules in all theses bases in a language school context. It is full-on and hard, but really worth it and applicable in many ways.[/b]

I thought about taking it, but my management experience thus far seems to be placating people. I've gotten one hell of an education in keeping unhappy people happy. |
