Hi Everyone,
Has anyone taught at TED Mersin? Or has anyone lived in or around Mersin?
Did an internet search but didn't come up with much. Any experiences or opinions would be welcomed.
Thank you,
Callie

I havent worked at a 'TED' school but I think they are quite prestigious schools within Turkey. My 1st girlfriend in Turkey went to TED Ankara Kolej (I was reminded of this by her several times Laughing ), and she said they always had native-speaker teachers for their English classes, something I think is quite unusual for highschools in Turkey. The parents pay considerable fees for their kids to study there, although i'm not sure if this would be reflected in your salary Very Happy

I would imagine that they would be like most private highschools, where parents pay fees and therefore call the shots to some extent...She told me a few stories of what her and her friends got up to in English class, sounded fun for her, not so much for the teacher perhaps...

Also, Mersin might be on the Med coastline but I dont think it will have much in the way of beaches or the more liberal feel of the 'mediterranean Turkey', like Bodrum or Antalya (I could be wrong). I think it would be pretty damn conservative. I think you could find much nicer places to go in Turkey... Any particular reason why you want to go there?

Hi bulgogiboy,
They have a job offer on this website and I am hoping someone will have some advice for me.
Sorry I should have explained myself further in my first inquiry. I am an English teacher and I've been living in Turkey about 18 months. I know about TED schools. In fact, I had a Turkish friend who taught at the Mersin TED and hated the school. But he's a bit of a "Sultan" so... you know.
I am just trying to glean a little information before I apply to anything or take a trip out there for an interview.
Thank you for your reply.
Callie

Prestigous in Turkey means the parents pay very high fees. Nothing more.

Someone I worked with worked later worked for Prestij Koleji in Istanbul and they shafted him out of his holiday pay. Prestige. Razz

Hehe yeah good point, although 'Prestige English' in Ankara had a really good reputation as far as I could tell Laughing it was just round the corner from English Time in kizilay. I interviewed there and really liked the place, but they only wanted part-time so it didnt really work out.
