Hey, I know there are loads of threads like this but I didn't want to invade one of the existing ones.

I'm a British girl, 23, BA in Japanese and TESOL, experience in teaching back home in summer camps and language schools, and also language schools in Japan. I'm currently on the JET programme but will be leaving next summer so I'm thinking of the next step.

I'd like to go to Taiwan. 3 years in Japan makes you appreciate having fresh fruit available, plus I'd like to live in a cheap city and Taipei seems right up my street. I want to save a load of money so I can study a masters in applied linguistics.

With my experience and qualifications, what can I aim for as a good job over there? Can I get an international school job? I would probably aim for English literature etc but also maybe drama or something would be something I could teach. If not, what are the jobs that other people of my status get?

Thank you in advance

BA in Japanese and TESOL? Masters in Applied Linguistics? WTF are those?

You're a woman.

You're young.

If you can add white to that resume, you're a shoe-in for just about any job in Taiwan.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't realise that it was more of a question of looks ou there. yes I am white.. And this means that I could apply to lots of internatinal schools with no problem? I have also been reading Scott sommers' blog and it seems I'm not able to get a uni job.

I don't mind working in a language school, I just want to see if there are any better jobs out there.

Thanks again

With those qualifications you will be limited to cram schools/buxibans and kindergartens, which are illegal but everyone still does it. You won't legally be able to work in any kind of public/international school.
