Hi,

I have 7 years teaching experience and a MEd (Educational Leadership) in addition to my PGCE. Would someone be able to indicate where exactly I would land on the salary scale? The most detailed information I've been able to find is just the salary range between 12 300 - 20 400AED/month.

A good friend of mine has 5 years of teaching experience and Masters. She received offer of 15,000 AED per month. So your starting salary may be a little more. You may want to PM some of the posters from the TEACHAWAY thread.

Thanks for that. Does anyone know how the work/salary with ADEC compares with some of the better international schools in the the region?

There may be a bit more money at a very few International Schools, but those positions will be small in number and extremely competitive.

In one of the 'better international schools' (Dubai College etc) you would expect a high level of resources, established but dynamic curriculum, and co-ed multi-national classes of pupils from well-off families, many of whom speak English at home; even more will have to use English at school in break times, unless they are socialising in national groups.

With ADEC a lot depends on where you are posted but they are single sex schools, and the pupils will speak Arabic outside class. Your role will be different. It really depends on what you want from your professional life.
