Hello ,
I have just passed my combined TEFL course and I would like to find work in Indonesian , I dont have any teaching experience but I have lived over seas before ( 4 years ) , I was considering applying for a position at one of the EF schools in the Jakarta area .
I have done some research and about rules for working visas , I noticed that the rules state that you must be educated to the age of 18 , I went to collage to study motor vehicle engineering it was a 2 year course would this be ok ?
Providing I can a secure a teaching job with EF , would it be possible to rent a small apartment on the salary they provide ?
Would it be better to apply directly to EF or use the placement service provided by the same company that I did my course with ?
Thanks in advance

If it were me, I'd try the placement service first. Presumably, they have some sort of partnership arrangement (even a loose one) with language schools they place graduates in, and and also that the service is included in the course fee.
If it's and extra cost to use the placement service, then whether or not you use it is dependent on your budget.
Either way, I'd also do some research. This forum's a good place to start, and there are other sites which can help you with general living in Indonesia and ESL-specific information.
As for your qualifications, individual employers interpret the regulations slightly differently, but the fact that you have TEFL qualifications would have to be a positive.
Good luck with your search, and I'm happy totry and answer any queries you may have. |
