Does anyone have any information about teaching at this level in Shanxi. I have received a positive response to a job vacancy but I am having trouble finding information. Thanks

I teach high school, and it can be a lot more demanding and frustrating than working in a university. Middle school might even be worse.
It really depends upon how patient you are with children.

The younger the student, the higher the typical salary. I would not work in a middle school for the 5,000RMB or so commonly paid in the universities.

To teach oral English in a regular middle school anywhere in China is a demanding job. I have just finished teaching one year in a very good high school, but even there the class sizes were large, normally more than fifty students per. The greatest drawback from the point of view of a foreign teacher in this situation is that oral English really has little standing. In China, high school prepares students to take the college entrance examination, and oral English at present gets short shrift in that test. The students receive huge amounts of homework and have not much free time. This age group often seems a bit rowdy. As Roger said, teaching at this level for 5,000 rmb per month does not sound appealing to me.

You all make valid points. It does not sound worth the money. I think I may keep looking
