I am looking to apply for the assistantship in Spain the coming year. I have a degree in Spanish and studied in Spain for some time. My boyfriend and I have been teaching EFL in Asia, and obviously, he will be coming to Spain as well.
He has very, very basic Spanish and no teaching degree. What are the chances that he can apply for the assistantship or find other legal work that would grant him a visa?
We would like to go about this in the most secure way possible. |

Getting a job with a visa is highly unlikely, but Madrid is full of non-EU paper holders giving private English classes for cash and many academies do still employ the occasional illegal person, so he'll be fine. Just avoid travelling outside Spain until you are definitively leaving to avoid the risk of not being let back in. And don't get into any scrapes with the police, obviously.
