I was contacted by a gentleman from Apple Education Company in Hanoi, Vietnam. He told me that he operated a language school, and found teachers for other schools. Anyone know anything about this?
On a related subject; is it better to get a job and visa up front, or go on my own to look for a job? |

Apple is expanding. I've interviewed there.
They are learning managment as they go, so they are possibly getting better.
They do pay lower salaries than the average school (at least they did last year).
Because of their growth, perhaps they are getting better.
I've never met anyone that worked for them, however. |

that you are taken FAR more seriously in real life than by presenting yourself electronically. The VN tend to think that electronic communications are filled with lies and insincerity. I would have to agree that a huge amount of the contact they get is just "fishing", whereas anyone walking in the door has demonstrated some degree of willingness to actually live and work in VN. With all the expats floating around here, live bodies tend to get a lot more interest than out of country contacts. |

Interesting. I find that face to face dealings with the locals are filled with the same two things. |

Spot on the money Buffalo Boy. We all have to be good at something, and a lot of schools, Colleges, Vocational Colleges, Universities, International Schools or whatever they choose to call their glorified "child minding centers" deal in lies, deception, untruths etc, and they do it face to face.
As far as e-mail from outside the country compared to face to face talk is concerned, the goose thats already cooked and on the table is ready to eat- the one in the magazine is just a picture. |

Lies, deception, untruths, etc ? No way! You do not understand. It is not a lie or a deception because you are a foreigner and that makes it OK. Anything goes as long as it is in my favor. You "not" understand.
It can be a bold, in your face fact and they will deny it as being true. You are always wrong. I am silly enough to believe that if you reason with them and show them facts they will understand. No we do not understand. You can have a contract and it means absolutely nothing!
The lesson is never, ever believe anything you are told. The only thing you can believe is when the money is in your hand and you are on your way out the door with some integrity attached. |
