I have just graduated from university and am about to get a TESOL qualification. I have just 2 months of TEFL experience. I'm 22 years old. I have heard that it is difficult for people who have graduated within the last 2 years to get work visas in China. Is anyone aware of this or of how difficult it is for recent graduates to get visas? Is there any way to get around this?

thanks

Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou are strict about having two years experience teaching (there's even talk about raising that to five years).

Other cities and outlying areas aren't so strict. There're also some schools with suffient connections to get past this.

You'll have to spend some time searching for a school that can guarantee your Z-visa and later FRP.

Can't say anything about SH and GZ, but it is not the case in Beijing. Maybe the rules / regulations say it is so, but in practice, it isn't.

Maybe some individual schools are applying that rule, but in general, it's not a problem in Beijing.

The official SAFEA rules say a person SHOULD have 2 years experience. It's not a requirement, it's recommendation. It's open to interpretation.
