| I will be arriving in Cairo next week and will be staying until the end of the school year. Is it possible to pick up temporary work with schools (international or language) at this time of year? If so, would it be best to email schools before or after I arrive in Cairo? Thanks in advance for any advice! |

Hi Sally:
It it hard to say if there will be work with international schools or not. If you arrive after the Easter holidays, then more than likely someone will have done a runner and they'll be in need of a teacher! Contact some of the schools below. You might make a more attractive candidate if they don't have to pay your airfare and such. Some of these schools take non-qualified teachers.
American International School
Heliopolis American School
The International School of CHoueifat
Cairo American College (qualified only)
Modern ENglish (qual. only)
New Cairo British School (i think qual. only)
Also, try International House which is called ILI Heliopolis. They do ESL but the pay is not as good as a school.
Some of them may be in need of a supply teacher, etc. It's worth a shot. I'll be there this summer myself for summer school. |
