I know this is not the classified section but we have a lot of people with a wealth of knowlege here.

Looking for contact info for an agent who specifically deals with renting apartments in the DQ in Riyadh.

Also does anyone know of a relatively cheap moving company that I can use to move all my furniture to Riyadh from Jeddah.

Please PM if you happen to have that information.

Tnx,

Lizzie

Nice to see you back VS...

I know! Moving to Riyadh after Jeddah is almost like moving back to Buraidah.

If it was just me I would stay in Jeddah but my husband was offered a project management job there... His MA is more in that line with the management job. So I had to give him the opportunity to follow his dream. And it will give him good experience to help get a job back home.

We have been working for recruiting companies and it's a direct hire as is my new job which will be better in so many ways.

"Recruiting companies" ? I think you are referring to "contractors".

Oh Scot... don't be such a vocabulary bully. I suspect many people use contractor, recruiter, or agent as rather synonyms depending on their dialect of English. My reading here has made them all run together in my mind as a constant pain in the... whatever... that one should avoid and go direct hire.

Different words reflect different realities. A "recruiter" does just that. He finds you a job and you are then employed by a company, college or university. A contractor hires you and then sends you out to work for a third party. He tyopically makes as much out of the deal as you do. He will charge the company 16,00 0monthly and pay you half.

Different ball game with different rules. That is why we use different words.

You use different words, but it seems that many (most?) of the rest of the posters here don't and probably don't know your definitions. I suspect that this problem will continue just as the confusion over the different visa terminology. Rather makes you feel like a voice in the wilderness doesn't it...

if i may join the debate of the titans of dave's esl cafe saudi arabia forum, then i would say recruiter and contractor are pretty different. recruiter recruits and then leaves you in the mud. contractor recruits (very often using a recruiter), deploys, gives you work, takes away your money and then leaves you in the mud

so, simply put, a recruiter will rip you off once, while a contractor will rip you off repeatedly on a monthly basis (very often after you have been ripped off by a recruiter who put you in touch with the contractor)

isnt that beautiful?

desdert traveller echoes my opinion. These two creatures are both enemies of humanity but they are different. Do not confuse crocodiles with alligators !
