This question is random and unrelated to teaching.

I'm trying to get into contact with someone I met, but I don't have his phone number, email address, and I don't know exactly where he lives, just a rough idea of where. Basically, I just know his name.

I know there are services that help you track friends and relatives in the US. Does anyone know of any services like that here or have any suggestions? I tried just checking the phone directory, but there's too many names to make any headway and the phone service might not even be in his name, that is if he's listed.

Any tips?

www.facebook.com

Might work if you have his name.

There's only six degrees of separation between you and any other person on the planet. Should be easy. I'd suggest starting with Kevin Bacon.

(Alternatively you could start with Mr Needle, currently residing in Haystackville...)

There are private detectives in Mexico. http://www.google.com.mx/search?q=mexico+detective Of course it wouldnt be cheap. What could they do that you couldnt do yourself? Is this person likely to have an online presence, or not? If not, then the internet wont help you, and you have to search in the real world. The most probable line of attack would be to retrace the steps by which you met the person in the first place.
