It is becoming increasingly common in public universities. Whether or not the FT will be required to take another exam upon arrival remains to be seen.

I've been told that it is a new requirement (unevenly enforced, naturally) for schools to need your completed medical exam form in order to get an invitation letter, which you need for your visa.

I wonder how long the medical form is good for however - if I get one for them - then later have to send it to the consulate - will the date on it be too late. Keep in mind this medical stuff in the USA is VERY expensive - maybe it is expensive other places too - but all I know at this point is how expensive it is here.

I've checked the Chinese Consulate's website, and I see no mention of submitting the exam when you submit the letter of invitation. What's your information telling you?

consulate in chiang mai, thailand requires the examination record
when submitting the visa application.

yunnan university claims that the exam record is required before
they can apply for the work permit. they sent the contract
without the health exam.

medical exam and visa are paid for by applicant. visa fees for us
passport holders were increased last week to 4560 baht (~US$140).

the exam will be done a second time in china where i will receive
a health certificate (small brownish booklet). second exam is
paid for by the university.

Uni wants to see it first - then I send original to consulate for visa - not sure why - and they do another when we arrive - other teachers said they did all of it except the xray - because it isn't safe to keep getting xrays - especially the same area of the body (not to mention in the USA what this stuff costs!).
