Anyone have a list of schools that provide visas for a new incoming teacher?

Also are Americans still having to pay major money to get a Japanese Drivers license?

Americans still have to take a driving test before they can get a Japanese driver's license, but the test fees are not high- a search tells me about 6,000 yen, plus however much your embassy charges to translate your license, which I think is about 3,000 yen in the case of the US embassy. The NZ embassy charges 13,000 yen to do the same thing, more than your total costs for the test and the translation Confused

How much had you heard it cost?

If you don't already have an American license then you would have to start from scratch with driving lessons, which is pricey- 100,000 yen at the very least.

No. Nobody has such a list, and you should really do your own research to find out who you like that provides sponsorship.

Americans "still" have to pay to get a J license here, yes. How much?
Driving record from U.S. (because my license was recently renewed, and they needed proof I had driven on it for more than 3 months)
$5 + 110 yen stamp,

Rules of the Road pamphlet (my choice) = 1000

Photo = 1200,

translation of current license = 3000,
written test fee = 2400,
fee at time of driving test = 1750,

practice driving fee (my choice) = 1000,

TOTAL = 11,060 (about US$100).
