|

I've been talking to a recruiter about a job in China, and they're currently asking for "a video clip of your self introduction."
I haven't been able to find much info online about what should go into it. I assume something like "Hi, my name is X, these are my qualifications, this is why I'm interested in teaching overseas, etc." Maybe... a minute, tops? Any advice or anything else I should be aware of? |

They are not interested in your directorial style, but try to impress them with a good clip anyway. Five minutes ought to be enough.
Yes, obviously your name is important. But the main thing is they want to hear your voice and see how clearly you speak, plus catch any quirky mannerisms. Talk about your hometown, why you're interested in that country (just a bit), and how much you are looking forward to being there. Choose a good background, too; don't have something messy or distracting, and watch out for background noises.
Don't forget to say thank you. |

Man, for some reason that was way harder than any interview. I do pretty well with a live audience--I used to work as a tour guide at a local history museum--but something about the cold dead stare of the camera weirds me out or perhaps makes me overly perfectionistic. :p
Oh well, a billion takes later, and I've got my clip. Thanks again. |
