Hi --

There is a really wide range, depending on the school. My classes have ranged from 24 to 88. If you teach English majors there's a good chance your classes will be smaller than if you teach a required, general class. When I say smaller, I mean like 30-40 students. That's my experience, anyway, at the schools where I've taught. I worked one place where the assistant dean told us the classes were going to go up to 120 in the next year, and every single foreign teacher quit, including me.

It really does vary a lot. My classes last semester (Oral English) ranged from 8 to 32. Generally under 20 (because that is the class size they think is most effective)

You work in a university where some classes only have 8 students? Is it a private uni?
