|
|
Hi there,
I am considering a position in Hong Kong which pays 28,000 HKD a month. As I'm a little unsure about the cost of living in HK can anyone give me advice about what kind of lifestyle I could expect on that salary? Any input regarding the cost of living and how far my money will go would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!! |

HK$ 28,000 per month is quite good and should allow you a pretty decent standard of living with worthwhile savings quite feasible. To give you an idea, the median income in HK is $15,000, but bear in mind that the cost of living is usually higher for expats.
So far as teaching jobs go, bottom of the ladder jobs, such as the dodgy private language schools, pay as little as $12,000, while the top paying jobs at the big international schools or high end of the NET Scheme pay over $60,000. A lot of expats (outside the big corporate earners) earn in the 20-30,000 range. |
